This is where I spent my weekend.
I got some much needed rest and relaxation.
It was peaceful and oh so lovely.

The only thing missing was my husband.

..We love the ZOO..

We really love visiting the zoo. I feel like it brings out the small over excited child in each of us when we see our favorite animals. Mine happen to be the tigers. I really love how big and beautiful they are. Last year we were literally like 4 feet away from them and the only thing between us was this wimpy chain-link fence. (scary) Good thing it was hot outside and they were all just lounging around like lazy bums.
Andrews favorite were the little monkeys. They are so funny. I love the cute faces they make and the things they do. We kept spotting animals from animated movies and Andrew then proceeded to mimic their voices, always making me laugh.
I really want to make it to the zoo at least once this summer. Also, it is a goal of mine to visit zoos on our travels outside of Utah, to see the diversity in animals that each zoo has. Visiting the zoo is a great summer activity for us. (so is going on bike rides up the beautiful Provo Canyon.)

What do you love to do in the summer?
What are your plans for this year?

..a home away from home..

We love escaping real life troubles and coming down to St. George. It truly is a home away from home (literally, my parents own a second home that we have the privilege of staying in whenever it is vacant).

We love the small-town atmosphere and the beautiful red rocks. We love the heat. We love the food. We love the shopping and the strange people we meet.

Vacations are my favorite time of year, whenever they come around. Sleeping in and eating whatever I want, laying out by the pool and watching endless movies with my honey, going on walks and finding new thrift stores. We did all of the above activities multiple times. Is it possible to get tired of a life like this?

Here are some of the photos of our trip. Hope you enjoy!

(I just noticed that the couple in the background look like they are posing for our picture. ha ha)

Judd's is our favorite little place to eat lunch in St. George. I love the atmosphere. It is a historic store that has been in St. George a very long time (I don't know the number of years though). It is has old-fashioned candy, a soda bar where you can order ice cream cones, fresh daily homemade soup, and lots of pretty antiques to look at.

Below: My bowl of soup and breadsticks.

Below: gone in an instant! So delicious.

We had an especially fun time last weekend because Andrew's parents and best friend/cousin decided to join us for a few days and have a vacation too. About a month ago Andrew's dad (Bill) saw a billboard for a Brian Regan show up in SLC. He got really excited because he loves to laugh and let me tell you, everyone around him loves it when he laughs too. He has the greatest, most contagious laugh. So we began to help him research about purchasing some tickets. He ended up buying tickets for last weekend's show in St. George at the Tuacon Theater.

The boys had a blast learning how to play Pickle Ball. It was really fun to watch them too.

Overall, We had an amazing week. We are so lucky to be able to take off work every once in a while in order to spend some quality time together.

I have another St. George trip coming up in a few weeks with some of my very best High School friends. I'm very excited to spend some time with these girls. They are my very favorite people to be with. Check back soon to hear about our adventures.

p.s. Coming up very soon is surprise for some of our readers! We are very excited (and you should be too).

..Yesterday..We Thrifted..

Yesterday we hunted down all of the thrift/antique stores in St. George. We had so much fun seeing all of the variety and finding a few steals. I got jewelry, sunglasses, incredible pieces of colored glass, brown vintage ankle boots, and two brass duck heads. Andrew made it out with only one treasure (the binoculars) but he is so excited to use them this weekend at the Brian Regan Show. He keeps walking around the house looking through them and commenting on how well their ability to magnify everything is.

We stumbled upon one shop that literally blew our minds!

Every square inch of the shop is covered in stuff. We determined that about 75% of it is junk and the small 25% of it is actually treasures. It was hard to walk in there because the aisles are only about 12 inches wide. I had to make sure my bootie/purse didn't knock anything over.

This place is a real gem. I'm pretty sure the old woman who owned it has a serious condition of hoarding objects of all kinds. (I would love to recommend her for the reality show and see if we could get her some help)

After the incredibly overwhelming experience of walking through that last antique shop. Andrew treated us to some cupcakes. Yum.

As amazing as it sounds, none of our treasures came from the above mentioned shop. We were so overwhelmed the entire time we walked through there that we didn't look for the treasures. Everything was so buried and we just laughed our way through.

Anyway, there will be more to come about our trip, so check back. We are having a truly relaxing and memorable time.
